Use Your Words- November 2014- Talking Turkey Part 1
Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.
At the end of this post you’ll find links to the other blogs featuring this challenge. Check them all out, see what words they got and how they used them.
My words are:
corner ~ dome ~ city ~ cornucopia ~ talk turkey
They were submitted by: http://www.someoneelsesgenius.com
With these interesting words, the only way to go is a work of fiction! All of I could think of was the teen fiction books I've read over the past few years.
The girl looked up at the sky, at the dome above the city, to judge what time it was. She figured she had enough time to get to the cornucopia, get the weekly ration of supplies for her family, and back to their little house on the corner before the daily rain hit.
As she ran through town square to the cornucopia, she heard a little boy making noises nearby. It sounded like he was trying to talk turkey. She walked over to him intending to make sure he was okay when she realized that he really was trying to talk turkey as he was trying to coax a live turkey out from under a bush!
To Be Continued (when I get another batch of words that I'm at a loss what to do with!)

Hi Eileen! Short and sweet. I love it :) Our farmer neighbor has about 12 turkeys right now. I'm pretty familiar now with someone who can "Talk Turkey" :)
ReplyDeleteHaha. That's funny. I can imagine walking around hearing someone say Gobble Gobble. I'd be like, "Now that's one jive turkey."
ReplyDeleteYou left me hanging! Hope you get some more tough words soon so I can see where this is heading!
